I'm Fifi Kara, currently based in San Francisco and I'm the Co-Founder & CEO of Aster, a healthcare technology company that puts clinical documentation on autopilot.
Before that, I was at Meta for several years, where I most recently led Design for Health within Meta's Reality Labs division, focusing on AR/VR and mixed-reality experiences for wearable hardware. Earlier on, as a Staff Designer I worked on collaboration experiences on Messenger for over one billion monthly active users as well as designed the first of it's kind Workrooms VR experience.
Prior to my time at Meta, I co-founded a Y Combinator backed company called Business Score - which helped SMBs thrive through embedded lending options, I also led Product & Design. I was one of the first designers at Bulb - the UK's fastest growing company and largest renewable energy supplier in 2018 helping design their core member experiences, growing product usage from 100,000 monthly active users to 1.8 million.
Over a decade ago, I founded Model Westminster, a social enterprise that taught thousands of students through the UK about political literacy. The UK Prime Minister David Cameron recognized the initiative for making young people more engaged citizens.
I grew up in London, and studied Political Science & Social Policy at the London School of Economics. I'm a huge believer in the power of good, accessible design and I believe healthcare needs it most right now. I'm particularly interested in the human condition, poverty alleviation, migration, artificial intellegence and health. Outside of work, I mostly spend time with my daughter and when I get time I enjoy reading, driving and sailing.
